Darren is an experienced executive who is just as comfortable speaking with business leaders dressed in a coat and tie as he is wearing a hard hat and steel-toe boots while “rolling up his sleeves and talking operations” with a plant manager. Whether talking to executives or plant managers, Darren’s core strengths of communication, relationship building, and the ability to think strategically and operate tactically builds trust and confidence as he helps organizations reach new levels of success.
These core strengths have allowed Darren to build a wide business background and deep business acumen. After graduating University of Tulsa with a degree in Marketing, Darren embarked on a career that has crossed multiple job functions, industries, and even countries. Darren has led regional and national sales teams, merged five distinct sales organizations into one customer-focused sales force, motivated call center professionals to do great work, and, as VP of Culture & Engagement for a top financial organization, identified an employee engagement baseline and developed new core values with the goal of becoming a Top 100 Workplace. It is this varied business experience that allows Darren to see and address business challenges from different perspectives.
Darren has worked with industry-leading organizations including Hilton Hotels, American Express, and FedEx. In key business areas including corporate culture, employee engagement, and leadership development, organizations large and small have sought his people and business expertise. He regularly speaks at HR and Learning & Development gatherings, teaches a business acumen seminar to SMU MBA students, and regularly writes for several industry blogs. Darren has also authored two books dedicated to helping people find career success, 3 + 4 Equals Success and The Millennial Challenge.
Darren's driving passion is to help organizations improve performance and help employees find career success and satisfaction. During engaging keynotes and interactive workshops, Darren presents the concepts and principles that are critical for organizational and personal success. A VP of Talent Acquisition said, “Darren is an engaging and impactful speaker. His common sense approach to corporate culture and values is refreshing and inspiring.” Another HR professional simply said, “Darren has that ‘it’ factor.” Whatever you call it, Darren has the knowledge, skills, and abilities to connect with any audience, from frontline associates to the executive suite, challenging and motivating people to perform at their greatest ability and helping organizations find greater success.
